Downtown Vancouver Salmon Fishing Report
We are in full summer fishing swing now with lots of Coho and Chinook salmon in our local waters. The West Van shoreline has been the biggest draw for most anglers as it is an easy fish and the Coho are cooperating. We are averaging 4 to 6 fish per trip for the past week or more with way more hatchery Coho than Wild. There was a nice run of 20 to 30 pound Chinook that rolled thru the inner harbour the other day and lots of boats managed a few. As in the past 3 weeks we have been focusing on the western end of the shoreline with great success. Depths have been in the 30 foot to 55 foot range with most baits/lures working. When these fish come on the bite the action is very good. The average size is about 6 pounds which is typical for Capilano Coho with a few larger fish mixed in.
Howe Sound has produced some real nice Chinook but not in the numbers that have us running there daily. This is a great fishery when it is on but when it's off it's just a nice boat ride. Depths in the Sound are 65 feet to 120 feet with bait and spoons working best for us.
Our Summer weather is here with temps in the 70's daily now and hopefully for the next month or more. If you would like to get out on the water for a mornings fish give us a call as we go daily.
Good luck and tight lines.
